2 National Championships and 23 arrests under Meyer

Can anybody argue that Urban Meyer isn't the best coach in College Football? In his 4 yrs in Gainesville, Meyer has a record of 44-9 and two National Championships.

I'll say it, even though I hate the guy. CUM is the best coach in college football.

It's only fair.

But what isn't fair is the blind eye that gets turned to his football program in regards to discipline and player arrests. It isn't fair to in-state rival Miami who is still referred to as Thug U for their reputation in the 80's and 90's. It isn't fair to Phil Fulmer who has never won the "Fulmer Cup" despite it being named after him. It isn't fair to Lane Kiffin who makes national headlines every time he sneezes, much less every time he has to make a decision involving ethics or players.

I'm not saying that Miami didn't deserve a bad reputation for the stuff that happened before Butch Davis cleaned up the program. I'm not saying that Fulmer's teams shouldn't be mentioned when talking about thugs. All you got to do is look at the National Championship team of 1998 and all the trouble those guys got in to determine Phil earned it.

And I'm not saying that UF's successes and championships should in anyway be dimmed by the 23 arrests under Meyer. I'm just wondering when the hell ESPN is going to write a story about it.

I guess an impeccable record and 2 BCS Championships will do that. I can't think of any other reason why sCUMbag gets a free pass.

In the 3 years under Randy Shannon, "Thug U" has only had 1 arrest and that was Robert Marve breaking a car mirror. In that same time, UF has had 15.

I'll let the guys from South Florida take it from here. Get all the facts in this great story by Dave Hyde in the Sun Sentinel.
