UT vs. Florida to be first CBS televised game

CBS announced that the Tennessee-Florida game will be the first SEC broadcast of the 2009 season. The network hopes to take advantage of the media fury that has both Lane Kiffin and Urban Meyer making headlines weekly.

The time for the September 19th broadcast from Gainesville will be the 3:30 PM EST time slot. The “SEC Game of the Week” teams will be announced 6 to 12 days prior to their broadcast dates says the network

Other games already released on the schedule involve the Iron Bowl battle between Alabama and Auburn on November 27th. The network will close 2009 airing the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta on December 5th.

CBS will broadcast double headers on October 10th with games at 3:30 and 8:00 PM and two games on November 14th beginning at 12:00 PM and 3:30 PM EST. CBS will air their traditional pick of the week game on Saturday, leaving ESPN room to air the remaining choices in their new contract. [Full story]

The VOLS could likely be one of the teams to play in the double headers on Oct. 10 and Nov. 14. The VOLS host UGA on Oct. 10 and go to Ole Miss on Nov. 14.
